The Asia Pacific Regional Internet Registry (APNIC) has announced the appointment of Jia Rong Low as its new Managing Director.
This position became vacant after Paul Wilson announced his departure after more than 25 years in the role. Wilson, as he concluded his long leadership of APNIC, was among those who congratulated the appointment of Jia Rong Low.
When Does the New General Manager Start?
Jia Rong Low will take over as APNIC Director General in October 2024.
Currently serving as ICANN's executive in charge of the Asia Pacific region, Low will complete this role next month. ICANN's interim CEO announced in a blog post that Low would be leaving the organization but did not make any statement about his new position.
This appointment is considered an important development in strengthening APNIC’s strategic role in the management of regional internet resources and internet governance.
